ADJECTIVES!

Hopefully this will help you when you study adjectives.

Adjectives are words that describe nouns.
for example- pretty, silly, smart, beautiful, funny, athletic and active

Proper Adjectives - an adjective made from a proper nouns
for example - American, Mexican, British, Russian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese

Adjectives after linking verbs (is, am, are, was, were)
for example - She is pretty, he was tired, they were busy, it was hungry. Make sure the word after the linking verb describes the subject of the sentence, and it is not an action word.

Adjectives that compare
for example - great, greater, greatest. comparing two things add -er, comparing 3 or more things add -est. Make sure you go over the spelling rules on page 274 & 275 for the different endings.

Adjectives using More and Most
Sometimes the words are just too long to add an ending of -er or -est, so when you compare two things you say MORE beautiful, and when comparing 3 or more things say MOST beautiful.

Adjectives Comparing Good and Bad
for example one is good, comparing 2 is better, and 3 or more is best.
for example one is bad, comparing 2 is worse, and 3 or more is worst.

Combining sentences using adjectives.
for example Pam painted a landscape. The landscape was pretty. Combining the two it should read-Pam pointed a pretty landscape.

Our test will be on March 9th.
